Your Questions Answered

WIRAC Aquatic Hall Reopening

We're excited to welcome you back from Monday 17 August!

We know our reopening hours and program availability look a little different. After such a long closure, we are reopening progressively while we recruit and train additional staff.

  • At the moment, we do not have enough qualified staff to safely supervise both the Aquatic Hall and Hydrotherapy Pool at the same time. To allow us to reopen the main Aquatic Hall, Hydrotherapy public sessions have temporarily been reduced to Monday–Thursday, 12.15pm–1.00pm.

  • Our current staffing levels mean we can only consistently provide two Aqua classes each week at this stage. As more staff become available, we hope to increase our Aqua timetable.

  • New pool stairs have been ordered and are currently being manufactured. We are waiting for them to be completed and delivered so they can be installed. We appreciate your patience while we wait for this work to be completed.

  • We are currently short of qualified Learn to Swim teachers and are actively recruiting and training additional staff. As our teaching team grows, we will progressively add more classes and lesson times.

  • Unfortunately, we currently don't have the staffing availability to consistently provide morning Squad sessions. We will review this as additional qualified staff become available.

  • Our current staffing levels do not yet allow us to safely and consistently operate our usual full opening hours. Rather than delay reopening further, we have chosen to reopen with reduced hours and progressively increase them as our staffing levels improve.

  • We're working on it! We are actively advertising, interviewing, onboarding and training new staff. Aquatic roles require specific qualifications and training, so unfortunately this process takes time. We want to make sure our team members are appropriately trained before they begin working independently.

  • Our reopening will be progressive. As more trained and qualified staff come onboard, we will review our operating hours, Hydrotherapy sessions, Aqua classes, Learn to Swim lessons and Squad sessions and increase them wherever possible.

Thank you for your patience and support

We know everyone has been waiting a long time to get back into the Aquatic Hall, and we're just as excited to have you back!

Monday 17 August is an important first step. While things won't be completely back to normal straight away, we're looking forward to progressively rebuilding our hours and programs as our team grows.

Please keep an eye on our Facebook page and member communications for updates.
