Classes include KinderGym, Kindy Ninja, Traditional Gymnastics (Steps), Ninja, Tumbling and Free G (parkour). Discover the fun-filled world of gymnastics at the Y!

We accept enrolment into our gymnastics programs all year round! Our students love coming to weekly classes, making friends and learning from their coach! Our Gymnastics Enrolment Process

Our ongoing and structured gymnastics classes can be enrolled in all year round using our Online Enrolment System. Please read our Online Enrolment Instructions for step-by-step instructions.

Our unstructured casual classes including Gym Play, Gym Families, Ninja Time Lapse, Adult Gymnastics and Free G can be booked and paid for online on a session-by-session basis using our easy Nabooki platform.

Classes Running 48 Weeks a Year

Our weekly gymnastics lessons are an ongoing program with progressive development. The minimum period of enrolment is 12 active weeks (six fortnightly payments). Your enrolment will continue each year until you decide to cancel. Each year we have a four-week break for the December and January school holidays.

The necessary financial adjustments to your direct debit payment will be made during this break time. We also understand families may need to take time off during the year for other holidays, so suspensions are available. Before booking, you are welcome to speak with one of our friendly team to understand the terms and conditions of membership.

KINDERGYM

Fun movement classes, perfect for toddlers to 5 year olds. KinderGym creates opportunities for children to enjoy both free play and structured activities in a fun, nurturing and safe environment.

We offer different classes for different age groups:

  • Gym Bubs: 6 months - 3 years old
  • Gym Tots (Toddler Gymnastics): 2.5 years old - 4 years old
  • Gym Kids: 4 years old - Pre prep age

GYM BUBS (6 MONTHS TO 3 YEARS OLD)

Gym Bubs is a fun introduction to toddler gymnastics, suitable for kids from 6 months to 3 years old. The class focuses on sensory awareness and play, introducing small challenges and routines.

This is a parent/caregiver assisted class and is offered as casual sessions.


GYM TOTS (2.5 YEARS OLD TO 4 YEARS OLD)

This KinderGym class designed for 2.5 years old to 4 years old refines movements and further develops gross motor movement. Cognitive and social development comes into perspective.

Children overcome hurdles, build confidence and work towards independence. Kids can then focus on key movements, improving core strength and working with their centre of gravity.

Gym Tots learn to take turns, play with others, understand direction and start to follow instructions.

Our budding gymnasts balance, swing, continue to develop upper body strength, and practice jumping.

This is a parent/caregiver assisted class.


GYM KIDS (4 YEARS OLD TO PRE-PREP)

Gym Kids is for children from 4 years old to pre-prep who are looking for more challenges.

Being a little older, our Gym Kids classes enjoy more independent exploration and discovery time with their coaches. This program refines movement, core strength and focuses on both lower and upper both strength.

Listening and social skills develop as children interact with others within a group. Children learn to move their bodies in all directions with forward and backwards rolls, and develop both sides of the body through balancing exercises.

We help children to gain independence in preparation for school. Parents become less involved as children come under the instruction of our expert coaches.

Gym Kids balance, swing, skip, climb, hang and refine single leg and arm movements.


Y STEPS

Our Y STEPS program helps children develop strength, flexibility and athletic ability. These classes are perfect for school-age beginners, right through to developing junior-level gymnasts.

Prep (For children at school in Prep)

Skill set: Cartwheel pattern, Jump to front support, Beam basic mount & dismount, straight jump forward, travelling rebound jumps, Hold chin up on rings 5sec


Step 1 (For Beginner children with no gymnastics experience aged 6-7 years)

Skill set: Forward roll down wedge to stand, from front support on low bar forward roll to stand, climb to handstand at wall, Beam forward and backward walking, Front support hold 3sec, half turn to rear support hold 3sec, standing hip flexion.


Step Girls 1-2 (7 - 10 Years)

Skill Set: Forward roll down wedge to stand, from front support on low bar forward roll to stand, climb to handstand at wall, Beam forward and backward walking, Front support hold 3sec, half turn to rear support hold 3sec, standing hip flexion.


Step Girls 2 (For Children with minimal experience aged 7-8 years)

Skill Set: Side cartwheel near vertical, tuck swing with re-gripping, Beam ½ turn on two feet, jump off two feet, hold rope in bent arm hang 10secs climb down to straddle sit, bridge with straight arms.


Girls Step 3 (For children with 1 years’ experience in gymnastics. 8-10 years)

Skill set: Backward roll to feet, pullover to front support, cast x3 series, point step walks on Beam, step hand stand fall flat back, Hold L sit 3-5sec.


Girls Step 4 (For Children with at least 2 years’ experience 9-12 years)

Skill Set: Handstand hold finish in lunge, pull over on low bar show dish shape 2sec, Lunge step in to split handstand at wall 10sec, straight jump drill, pike handstand fall to flat back, climb up 3m rope using legs up and lever down. Handstand roll with straight arms, glide swings, Beam straight jump dismount, L handstand drill, Vault straight jump with rebound, strep one bounce dive roll.


Girls Step 5-6 (For Children with at least 2 years’ experience 9-12 years)

Our Y STEPS program helps children develop strength, flexibility and athletic ability. These classes are perfect for school-age beginners, right through to developing junior-level gymnasts.

Boys Step 1-2 (5 - 7 Years)

The Boys Step class is designed to develop power, strength and control. This class allows boys to become familiar with apparatus such as Pommel, mushroom, rings, Vault, and Parallel Bars. As the boys achieve their skills in the steps program they then move into the next level.


Boys Step 3-4 (8 - 10 Years)

The Boys Step class is designed to develop power, strength and control. This class allows boys to become familiar with apparatus such as Pommel, mushroom, rings, Vault, and Parallel Bars. As the boys achieve their skills in the steps program they then move into the next level.


Boys Step 5-6 (8 - 10 Years)

Y NINJA

Our junior ninjas climb, swing, roll, jump and flip their way through every class, developing new skills in an encouraging and safe environment. These classes are designed to build and increase your child’s coordination, strength, flexibility, agility and overall physical fitness.

Ninja (5-8 Yrs)

We know that every little boy and girl has real-life ninja powers! Children will never be bored at Ninja Gymnastics as they race, climb, crawl and jump through our ninja obstacle courses. Ninja classes offer the ultimate warrior challenge for little ninjas to build strength and agility while testing their muscles and endurance. Ninja Gymnastics classes boost children’s confidence, focus and determination. There are no pre –requisite skills required for Ninja Gymnastics! We recommend that children aged five and above also spend some time in our core gymnastics classes, called Y Steps. These classes help children develop the foundations to further improve their health and fitness.


Ninja (9-12 Yrs)

Who doesn’t want to train to be a ninja? YMCA Ninja classes are for enthusiastic children who want to learn cool tricks and moves under the guidance of qualified coaches. Work on agility, increase speed development and build fitness levels.

Y TRAMPOLINE & TUMBLING

Learn how to backflip and do tricks! Girls and boys combine passes and runs with tumbling skills to perform cartwheels, roundoffs, back handsprings, layouts, whips and tucks along a narrow sprung surface.

Girls and boys combine passes and runs with tumbling skills to perform cartwheels, roundoffs, back handsprings, layouts, whips and tucks along a narrow sprung surface. Gymnasts learn how to perform fast-paced synchronised movements with incredible skill and talent. If your child loves to tumble, this sport is for them. This class is suitable for children who have completed some beginner gymnastics training or have had some previous experience in acrobatics, cheer or dance. If your child has previously been enrolled with the YMCA or is currently enrolled with us, they should have completed Step 5 or above. Our coaches adapt the program to suit the needs of all students, helping each individual reach their goals. Moves of varying difficulty are taught depending on class experience - ranging from mixed-level ability to intermediate.


Intermediate Tumbling & Tramp

Y COMPETITIVE

Our Y Competitive program sees talented boys and girls become young gymnastics athletes. WAG Competitive classes inspire gymnasts to master movement and reach Australian National Level 10. Contact us to learn more.

    We are kitted up to host birthday parties that will not be forgotten. It is double the fun but no clean up required. Our gymnastics parties are an energetic & unique spin on a traditional birthday event.

    We Accept Fairplay Vouchers

    FairPlay vouchers are one of the initiatives of the Activate! Queensland program by Queensland Government to improve physical literacy in the early years and promote more opportunities to be physically active within communities. 

    YMCA is proudly a registered activity provider of this program. Parents, carers or guardians can apply for FairPlay vouchers valued up to $150 for your child/ren (aged 5-17).
