Welcome to the YMCA! We're excited to have you in our community. By participating in our programs, you agree to the following terms and conditions.
1. Safeguarding Children and Young People
The YMCA regards its role in the protection of children in their care as of the utmost importance. The YMCA has a range of policies and procedures to keep children and young people safe. Details of these policies are available can be found at YMCAqueensland.org.au. Please take the time to read these policies to better understand our guiding principles and how you can report child safety concerns that you may have. Your feedback is always appreciated. All staff hold a Working With Children Blue Card to work with children and have been made aware of and trained in the Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy of the YMCA of Brisbane.
2. Behaviour Expectations
All participants are required to behave appropriately and follow all reasonable directions from YMCA staff. Disruptive or unsafe behavior may result in my child being removed from activities.
3. Clothing Requirements
Gymnastics participants are to wear suitable sports clothes. Long hair must be tied back (with no large hair accessories) and all jewelry must be removed. For safety reasons, participants should not wear clothing with denim, buttons, belts or zips.
Learn to Swim participants must wear appropriate swimming attire that fits and does not sag. Girls must wear a one-piece swimsuit. Accompanying parents in the pool must wear a t-shirt. Children must wear a swim nappy if not toilet trained
4. Medical Conditions and Injuries
Please advise the YMCA of any medical conditions, allergies, physical limitations or mental health concerns that may be relevant to participation. All participants must be in good health and free from any adverse medical conditions. In choosing to participate in these activities, I confirm that I / my child/children have no medical conditions that would affect them safety while participating in this these activities. In the event of an injury or medical emergency, I hereby authorise YMCA staff to provide first aid or seek medical treatment for my child. YMCA staff will use their discretion to provide first aid or seek further medical treatment for participants in the event of any injury. YMCA will not be responsible for the costs related to the provision of such first aid or medical treatment.
5. Potential for Injury
I understand that gymnastics and physical activities involve inherent risks, including but not limited to falls, slips, landing improperly, friction burns, drowning, or other physical injury, or other accidents. Despite the Y taking all reasonable care, such the risks constitute 'inherent risk' for the purposes of the relevant legislation, including for the purpose of Section 16 of the Civil Liability Act 2003 (Qld). In choosing to participate in these activities participants acknowledge that they have, I acknowledge that I have been informed of the nature of the gymnastics and/or swimming activities and the associated risks, and I voluntarily accept those risks for myself and my child / children
6. Participation
Particiation in class activities is voluntary, and no person will be forced to participate in any activity if they choose not to. Participants should not attempt skills or activities that they are not familiar or competent with.
7. Insurance
Casual and Trial Classes at the Y are not covered by personal accident insurance that will provide coverage in case of any accidents or injuries. Participants agree to be responsible for any and all costs and medical expenses that may arise from my / my child’s participation in this program.
8. Media Release
Children may be photographed or filmed during classes for promotional purposes. The YMCA assumes permission to use this content unless indicated by ticking the Media Release Opt-out when signing in.
9. Refunds
YMCA fees are non-refundable.
