Seniors Fitness at the Y

Strength, Independence, Vitality

At the Y, we love our senior members.

Our Centres offer a number of specialty classes for people 60 years and over run by qualified instructors.

Gyms provide social connection and a genuine sense of community, helping to combat loneliness and isolation.

Sign up through our Member Portal, or contact us to sign up in-person! There are yellow buttons further below, where you can link through to each of our centres.

Gym & Personal Trainers

At all Fitness Centres (except for Caloundra)

Strength training and cardiovascular exercises can significantly improve your overall health and reduce the risk of the chronic diseases that are prevalent in older adults, such as heart disease, diabetes, and osteoporosis.

By engaging in weight-bearing exercises, seniors can maintain and even increase bone density, which is crucial for preventing fractures and maintaining mobility as you age.

You may choose to couple your membership with a tailored exercise plan developed with the guidance of a personal trainer (PT) or accredited exercise physiologist. Exercise safely and effectively, reducing the risk of injury while maximizing the benefits of physical activity.

Lungs in Action

At Bowen Hills Centre

A community exercise program designed to help people living with a chronic lung disease maintain the health and wellbeing benefits achieved by participating in pulmonary rehabilitation.

It is also suitable for people with heart failure who often experience similar symptoms such as breathlessness, to those with chronic lung conditions.

Lungs in Action classes are run by exercise professionals who have been trained by Lung Foundation Australia to provide exercise training for people with chronic lung and heart conditions.
