Approved Industry COVID Safe Plans

All our Fitness centres operate under the requirements of the various Approved Industry COVID Safe Plans:

  • COVID Safe Industry Plan for Fitness Facilities
  • COVID Safe Industry Plan for Indoor Sports
  • COVID Safe Industry Plan for Swimming Pools and Aquatic Centres

Centres have a designated COVID Safety Officer to maintain an understanding of the Queensland Government COVID Safe Business Framework, including general conditions under the Roadmap to easing restrictions, Public Health Directives and relevant COVID Safe Industry Plans. They facilitate the implementation of COVID Safe procedures and monitor compliance in order to ensure effective management of COVID-19 risks.

Key Activities include:

  • Sanitizing stations
  • Increased cleaning of frequently touched surfaces
  • Cleaning equipment between users
  • Spacing equipment to maintain physical distancing requirements
  • Floor markers/indicators to facilitate physical distancing
  • Control and management of capacity limits
  • Staff training in COVID-19 Infection Control
  • Signage displaying information on reminders and requirements
  • Electronic systems for contact tracing purposes
  • Planned procedures for a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19

All of the above has been incorporated into the centres' COVID Safety Management Plan which is outlined to staff.

What is the Y doing to reduce the risk?

The Y is closely monitoring the situation and adhering to Australian and Queensland Government advice in relation to Novel Coronavirus.

The Y is also following its regular Covid-19 health and safety practices regarding cleaning of equipment, bathrooms and change rooms and our food handling procedures. This includes regular cleaning of equipment and toys. We will also be undertaking additional cleaning and disinfecting of high contact surfaces.

In the instance of a confirmed case at one of our centres, we will need to close for a period to allow QLD Health to assess the situation and to perform contact tracing as required to identify people and students who may have come in contact with the COVID-19 virus.

Specialised cleaning of the facility will take place if necessary before re-opening.

What do I need to do?

Anyone who has been in the locations in the Government’s contact tracing alert list during the relevant time periods, regardless of whether they have symptoms is asked to get tested and isolate until their results are received.

You can access the contact tracing alert page on the QLD Government’s website at the following location - https://www.qld.gov.au/health/conditions/health-alerts/coronavirus-covid-19/current-status/contact-tracing

As per usual health and wellness guidance, we ask members, students and visitors who are unwell with respiratory illness should seek medical advice and remain at home until symptoms resolve.

We also ask that all members, students and visitors take the precautions advised by the public health experts including:

  • Frequently clean hands by using alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.
  • When coughing and sneezing, cover mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue – dispose of tissue immediately and wash hands.
  • Avoid close contact with anyone who has fever and cough (stay more than 1.5 meters away).
