Start your children's journey in the performing arts. The Y Mango Hill offers a wide range of dance classes for children from kindy age to 12 years old. Whether a child is seeking to become a classical ballerina or simply wants to bop around to music in a dance class with other kids, we will help you find the best class for your children.

KINDER DANCE

Children love to dance! Dance classes can nurture talent and spark the creativity of tiny dancers whilst positively impacting a child’s physical, emotional, and mental health. Dance classes can be started at any age and include a variety of different dance styles. Dancing is also a way for children to learn self-expression whilst developing motor skills and coordination. Most importantly, dancing is a fun way for them to release their energy and excitement!

  • Dance Tots (3 years old – 4 years old): Learn the joy of dance through creative movement and music. Dance Tots will introduce your little one to the world of twirls and wiggles. A combination of ballet and jazz is a fun introduction to dance.

  • Dance Kids (4 years old – 5 years old): Learn musicality along with some creative moves. Combining ballet and jazz, your child will progress through the introductory levels of dance preparing them for Dance Steps, having a lot of fun along the way.

DANCE STEPS

Twirl, leap and glide as you develop breathtaking and impressive dance skills. Dance Steps classes are perfect for beginners or school age dancers who want to develop and refine their movement skills. Choose from graceful ballet classes or electrifying jazz classes – where students will learn technique, creativity and self-expression through movement.
  • Dance Prep (5 years old – 6 years old): Learn the art of ballet through developing a foundation in technique with barre exercises from pliés to pointed toes. Kick start your love of jazz with upbeat music and energetic dance moves including jumps and kicks.

  • Dance Step 1 (6 years old – 7 years old):Discover a love of dance learning the foundation techniques of jazz and ballet in a fun-filled class. Get moving and shaking learning pliés, pointed toes and more.

  • Dance Step 2 (7 years old – 8 years old)Develop jazz and ballet technique on the barre and floor, with lots of exciting exercises that teach foundational dance skills to upbeat and enchanting music.

  • Dance Step 3 & 4 (8 years old – 10 years old): Learn classical ballet barre and centre work. With a supportive class structure that encourages students to improve their technique and learn new skills, your child will develop a strong posture and a sense of artistry through movement patterns. Join in with Jazz for a fast-paced energetic class that develops co-ordination and agility with the use of combinations that move across the dance floor including turns, leaps and kicks.

  • Dance Step 5 & 6 (10 years old – 12 years old): Refine classical ballet barre and centre work and learn new exciting movements. See your child’s artistic ability flourish as they become more fluent, confident and skilled in dance. Join in with Jazz for a fast-paced energetic class that develops co-ordination and agility with the use of combinations that move across the dance floor including turns, leaps and kicks.

PERFORMANCE GROUP

Make strong friendships and bond over dancing together! Performance Group is designed in contemporary dance style which encourages self-expression, natural movement and personal interpretation. This style combines elements of several dance genres including Modern, Jazz, Lyrical and Classical Ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.
